| Canfield Down, Then Up Again, Going To State Finals | |
Canfield Cardinals, a StrikeOut Strippz team, is in the thick of the Ohio State Little League tournament, under-12 division. Let me tell you, it’s been exciting! Canfield made it to the fourth round before losing lost its first game of the tournament to Mount Vernon, 10-0. Colton Crissman hit for Canfield. But, earlier today in the fourth round loser’s bracket Canfield beat Dover 4-3 on Zach Kuchmaner’s game-winning double to right field. Dover scores 2 runs in first inning on a double by Cory Contini. Canfield follows with a solo-home run by Jimmy Leone, making the score to 2-1. Canfield strikes again, in the 4th inning, on a two-run homer by Joey Kleeh. Dover ties the game in the top of the 6th with a home run by starting pitcher, Aaron Sergeant. Bottom of the 6th, Canfield leads off the inning with a walk by Jarret Vrabel, followed by a walk by Joe Kleeh—both runners advanced on a past ball, setting up an intentional walk to Edmond Pilolli, bringing up Kuchmaner’s hit, scoring Vrabel for the winning run! Starting pitcher Edmond Pilolli have up 1 hit in 4 innings. Zach Kuchmaner coming in the 5th, gave up 1 hit and no runs. They combined for 10 strikeouts. As a result of their victory against Dover, Canfield will play Mount Vernon again for the State Final Friday, July 25th at noon. I’ll keep you posted. |
